PM-KUSUM opens up multiple ways for farmers to benefit from solar energy — whether by reducing irrigation costs or generating additional income.
Component A allows farmers and landowners to set up small ground-mounted solar plants (0.5 MW to 2 MW) on barren or fallow land, selling the generated power to DISCOMs under a long-term agreement.
Component B supports the installation of standalone solar agricultural pumps, replacing costly and polluting diesel pumps with clean solar power.
Component C focuses on solarizing existing grid-connected pumps, allowing farmers to use solar power for irrigation during the day and sell surplus power back to the grid.
Each component comes with its own eligibility criteria and subsidy structure. Greennub's agriculture solar team can help farmers identify which component fits their land and energy needs, and manage the application process end-to-end.
